Toby the Turtle Learns to Be Brave
Toby the Turtle was a very shy turtle. He loved watching the dolphins leap and play in the ocean, but he was too scared to join them. He would hide behind rocks, peeking out only when he thought no one was looking.
One day, a friendly starfish named Star approached Toby. "Why don't you ever play with us, Toby?" Star asked kindly. Toby mumbled something about being scared, his voice barely a whisper.
Star smiled. "Scared of what? The waves? The dolphins?" Toby nodded sadly. Star explained, "The ocean is full of wonder, and it's okay to be a little scared. But if you stay hidden, you'll miss out on all the fun!"
Star suggested they start small. They played hide-and-seek among the rocks, then Toby cautiously ventured into the shallow water. He felt the cool sand between his toes and giggled.
Gradually, Toby's fear began to fade. He started swimming a little further out, encouraged by Star's cheers. He saw colorful fish and playful crabs. He even saw a little seahorse!
Finally, he saw the dolphins again. He took a deep breath and slowly swam towards them. He expected them to be scary or to ignore him, but they were curious. One friendly dolphin swam close and nudged him gently.
Toby wasn't scared at all! He swam and played with the dolphins, laughing and splashing. He felt so brave and happy, and he realized that his fear had been holding him back from an amazing experience.
From that day on, Toby the Turtle wasn't shy anymore. He learned that even though it's okay to feel scared, courage is taking that first step, even if it's just a little one. He spent his days playing with his friends, exploring the ocean, and being the bravest, happiest turtle in the sea.
