Oliver the Octopus Who Wanted to Fly
Oliver the octopus was blue, and he had a BIG dream. He wanted to fly! He'd seen the birds soaring above the ocean and he wished, with all his eight arms, that he could join them.
One day, Oliver found some old cardboard. Using his super-strong suckers, he fashioned himself a pair of wings! They weren't very aerodynamic, but Oliver didn't care. He put on his goggles (he found those on the beach!), and he was ready for takeoff!
He flapped his cardboard wings with all his might, and...well, he didn't quite fly. But he did make a HUGE splash! All the other sea creatures – a crab named Pinchy, a little fish named Finny, and a starfish named Star – watched in amazement.
Pinchy the crab giggled. Finny the fish sputtered water. Star the starfish gasped! Oliver was making quite a show! He wasn't flying, but he was having the best time ever. He zoomed and swirled, and even did a few underwater loops!
Even though Oliver didn't actually fly, he learned something very important that day. It's okay to have big dreams, even if they seem impossible. And it's even more important to have fun trying!
